Professional Responsibility in Multijurisdictional Practice
About This Course
The program examines Model Rule 8.5 and its state variations, exploring how choice of law provisions in ethics rules determine which jurisdiction's standards apply in different situations. Participants will learn practical strategies for identifying potential conflicts between jurisdictions and resolving them in ways that protect both clients and attorneys.
Special attention is given to emerging issues in multi-jurisdictional practice, including virtual law practice, temporary practice provisions, and the ethical implications of technology that enables lawyers to serve clients regardless of geographic boundaries.
